I have been an ovo-lacto vegetarian since I was about 12 years old. I taught myself to cook at around that age and love to try new ingredients and new recipes. I have adapted many recipes over the years to suit the needs of my family, Since my husband cannot have sugar, honey, or artificial sweeteners due to gastritis, I have adapted many recipes over the years to suit the needs of my family, such as using fruit to sweeten desserts and breakfast foods.
Since many people have asked me for my recipes, I decided to share them with the world through this website. Most vegetarian and vegan websites are very radical, saying that everyone should be vegetarian/vegan. While I do believe everyone should be vegetarian, I prefer to think along ecological lines. Eating meat causes great ecological damage to our planet, and if each person who reads a recipe on this site refrains from eating meat for even just one meal, the planet will benefit.
As I have grown older, I have moved towards more low-calorie and vegan recipes as a way to control my weight, so I intend to post many recipes for those seeking a healthy diet.
This blog is also available in Portuguese (really!) at Vege.eco.br
When recipes and posts are available in both languages, click on the flag to switch between them.
I hope that, whatever your reasons for visiting EcoVege, you find something to enjoy.
